Teen Mentoring in the South Bay

Teen mentoring is a positive, steady relationship for a young person: a relatable role model who helps with confidence, motivation, life skills, and direction. It is non-clinical, not therapy, and sometimes it is exactly what a teen will accept when they are not ready for, or do not need, clinical care. A mentor in their corner can make a real difference.

We offer teen mentoring in person in the South Bay and virtually across California.

Teen mentoring is non-clinical and is not therapy or a licensed mental health service. If your teen is struggling clinically, we offer teen therapy, and we will help you find the right fit.

How mentoring helps

Our approach

We match your teen with a mentor suited to them and work with parents on goals and appropriate involvement. Because Bodhi Clinical is one coordinated team, mentoring works alongside teen therapy and family therapy when clinical support is the better fit, so nothing falls through the cracks.

What to expect

We begin with a free 15-minute consultation to understand your teen and your goals, then match them with the right mentor. If clinical care turns out to be the better path, we will say so and help you get there.

If your teen is in crisis or talking about harming themselves, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or go to your nearest emergency room.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is teen mentoring the same as teen therapy?

No. Teen mentoring is non-clinical: a positive role model and steady support for a young person building confidence, skills, and direction. It does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions. For clinical concerns, we offer teen therapy.

Who is teen mentoring for?

Adolescents who would benefit from a trusted, relatable mentor, for motivation, accountability, life skills, and navigating the pressures of growing up. It is especially helpful alongside, or as a step toward, clinical care.

Are parents involved?

Yes. For minors, we work with parents on goals and appropriate involvement while giving your teen room to build the relationship. We will explain how this works at the consultation.

When should we consider therapy instead?

If a teen is struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or other clinical concerns, therapy is the right fit. We will tell you honestly which makes sense, and the two can work together.

Is teen mentoring available online?

Yes, in person in the South Bay and virtually across California.
